Madrid is the business centre of Spain and the headquarters of the Spanish Government and Administration. One of Madridâ¿¿s main attractions is the Palacio Real, home to the Spanish royal family. The building dominates the western part of the original city of Madrid, known as Old Madrid, where you will find many historical buildings and sights. Old Madrid stretches from Puerta del Sol to Plaza de Villa and is home to sights such as the Plaza Mayor and the Palacio de Santa Cruz. Another popular area of the city is Bourbon. This is the more modern side of the city, and features a couple of parks, many squares and the famous Paseo del Prado. It is around here that you will find many museums including the Museo del Prado. The most visited attraction in Madrid is the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, home to the world famous Real Madrid. Madrid has a very lively nightlife with all its restaurants, bars and nightclubs. During the weekend, they say you are likely to see more people on the street at 5 am than in most cities during the day.
